Block Minting Breakdown

Every pool falls in exactly one band, so these counts add up to
2,895 exactly. The percentages are each rounded to one
decimal place, so they may not total exactly 100%.

About these figures
Population.
The 2,895 pools counted here are those
registered on Cardano and not retired. A pool that retired and later
re-registered is included, and so are the blocks it minted before it retired.
Basis.
Every count is lifetime cumulative — all the blocks a pool has minted since
its first, with no time window. A pool that has been running for years will
therefore sit far above an equally capable pool that registered recently. Read
these figures as a record of accumulated output, not as a measure of how a pool
is performing now.
Not counted.
The chain holds 13,905,639 blocks and the figures
above cover 7,400,591 of them. Two groups are excluded:
4,957,299 blocks that have no
stake pool behind them at all — the Byron era and federated block production
— and 1,547,749 blocks
minted by pools that have since retired. Together those are
46.8% of every block ever produced.
